Ensuring barristers and chambers understand their responsibilities in supporting colleagues experiencing menopause.
Women now make up almost 40% of practising barristers in the UK and more than half of new entrants to the profession. Yet despite this shift, menopause, a life stage affecting a significant proportion of the Bar’s workforce, remains a largely unspoken issue. Many legal professionals continue to manage debilitating symptoms silently, without the understanding or adjustments they need to remain healthy and effective at work.
This training course is designed to offer clear, accessible guidance on what menopause is, how symptoms can impact professional life, and the steps chambers should take to meet their legal obligations.
Under relevant legislation, employers, including chambers, are required to consider reasonable adjustments for menopausal staff and members. Failing to do so may amount to a breach of duty of care.
