Raising awareness of current issues surrounding race at the Bar and actions that can be taken to be a more inclusive profession

This module is designed to encourage honest reflection and meaningful discussion about race and racism within the Bar. It aims to build understanding, empathy, and awareness of how racial inequality continues to affect individuals and the wider profession. By engaging with real experiences and current insights, the module seeks to create space for self-reflection and to inspire collective responsibility for positive change across chambers.

In line with the Bar Standards Board’s Race Statement and the Bar Council’s findings in their flagship Race at the Bar reports, this training reinforces the profession’s shared commitment to fairness, inclusion, and accountability. It is intended to help every member of the Bar contribute to a more respectful working environment.

93% of Briefed users would recommend this training to their colleagues.

What our Clients Say

  • As a Black pupil who knows of the issues at the Bar and who has experienced racism first-hand, I found this course to be comprehensive and truthful. I feel like there is now authority to support the issues I have raised with members at the Bar who made me feel like I was being unnecessarily difficult. I found the course excellently addressed issues of racism (including ethnocentrism and xenophobia) and intersectionality without attempting to placate those with power at the Bar who sometimes, unintentionally or otherwise, display these harmful behaviours.
