Our client, a prestigious barristers’ chambers, is seeking an exceptional Executive Assistant to support its Chambers Director. This is a rare opportunity to play a central role in one of the UK’s most respected commercial and chancery chambers.
In this position, you will act as the Director’s first point of contact and trusted partner, managing diaries and communications, coordinating meetings and events, and ensuring the Director is always one step ahead.
What sets this role apart is its diverse scope. Beyond traditional EA responsibilities, you will contribute to key projects across compliance, governance, and sustainability, prepare papers for committees, liaise with suppliers and contractors, and take an active role in chambers-wide initiatives, including pupillage, diversity and inclusion, and outreach programs. We are looking for individuals who are astute, confident, and highly organised, with excellent IT skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Strategic thinker and forward planner. Familiarity with the pupillage cycle or experience in sponsorships or outreach will be an essential part of the role.

The Role
- In a paperless environment, undertaking the CD’s inbox filing, document filing and generally assisting with good electronic data management.
- Diary management – arranging meetings with staff, committees and practice groups, scheduling meetings / lunches as appropriate (must be able to anticipate CD’s needs in scheduling diary).
- Fielding phone and email queries, acting as a buffer/gatekeeper to the CD, dealing with requests or passing them onto the relevant person as appropriate.
- Making necessary travel or lunch etc arrangements for the CD and collecting credit card slips and invoices for the finance director.
Wider Chambers Administration Role
- Undertaking as required various aspects of liaison or organisation with certain contractors and suppliers, including but not limited to those involved in the refurbishment of the premises, IT or sustainability projects, and generally assisting the CD and other staff with contract administration.
- Diarising, sorting Teams link, collating and circulating agenda and papers for committee and Chambers’ meetings, recording attendance and voting, taking minutes.
- Participating in working group for the establishment and bedding in of the Intranet.
- Managing CD OneDrive confidential data including ensuring routine secure destruction from databases in accordance with Retention and Disposal policy.
- Administration of members regulatory renewals and obligations to the extent possible and appropriate, including annually checking, or liasing in respect of or arranging for the checking of the practising certificates of all members and practising associates,Practice Insurance (via Bar Mutual and TLO), ICO Registrations, security clearances if appropriate under the AML policy and also the block-booked professional organisation memberships eg Chancery Bar Association, COMBAR, etc.
- Keeping chambers records on compliance for, eg, barrister GDPR, cybersecurity and Equality and Diversity training, diversity data.
- Taking some administrative responsibility for the annual pupillage and mini-pupillage rounds, and working generally on pupillage in conjunction with the Head of People and EDI.
- Working with the Head of People and EDI on EDI and other ad hoc projects.
- Taking the central staff-side role in the Sustainability committee, with responsibility for the implementation of its decisions.
- Other miscellaneous duties as the needs of the business may require.
