A leading national housebuilder is seeking a Senior Counsel with deep expertise in residential property and regulatory matters, particularly around fire safety and remediation, to join its growing legal team. This is a senior-level role offering high levels of responsibility, strategic input, and the opportunity to shape how the business navigates a critical and evolving regulatory landscape.

The Role

Reporting into the General Counsel, you will lead on all regulatory legal matters affecting the group, with a particular focus on fire remediation and building safety. You’ll work closely with internal teams, regulators, and external advisers, providing proactive, commercially focused legal advice and helping ensure compliance across complex and high-profile developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on all legal and regulatory aspects of fire safety and remediation, including under the Building Safety Act
  • Leading legal input into remediation strategy, claims, and correspondence with regulators and residents
  • Supporting the wider legal and development teams on compliance and risk across the property lifecycle
  • Managing external legal advisers where needed, while providing hands-on legal advice in-house
  • Helping shape internal policy and frameworks relating to safety, liability, and regulatory risk

About You

  • Qualified solicitor with significant post-qualification experience in residential property and regulatory law
  • Deep knowledge of fire safety regulations, cladding and remediation matters, and wider building safety law
  • Experience advising developers, housebuilders, or housing associations is strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to advise senior stakeholders and engage with regulators
