Anti-Racism Training for Law Firms
Designed to raise awareness and initiate conversations surrounding racism.
In the legal sector, racism is a complex and difficult subject to engage with. However, all law firms are expected to evaluate and strengthen their commitment to anti-racism, as set out in requirements by regulatory bodies.
After consulting with industry experts and individuals who have a personal understanding of experiences with racism, we have developed a specific anti-racism training course to support law firms.
The module aims to give you an understanding of the issues around race, how this can affect your colleagues, and an opportunity to self-reflect and explore further conversation within your law firm and wider networks.
What will you learn?
- An understanding of what racism is and its different forms.
- The consequences of racism.
- Understand what microaggressions are and how to reduce their presence in law firms.
- Understand why the legal sector is driving racial equality.
- Recognise race related systemic obstacles.
- Know of best practices in overcoming obstacles.
Who is this course for?
Law firm staff who:
- Want to meet their regulatory requirements with training which will challenge and engage them, rather than just completing a tick-box exercise.
- Are looking to engage with their own personal and professional self-awareness.
- Would like to be part of creating a culture of inclusiveness.
- Want to offer a hybrid of e-learning and live conversations to staff.
- Visibly strengthen their equality and diversity programme.
"As a Black pupil who knows of the issues at the Bar and who has experienced racism first-hand, I found this course to be comprehensive and truthful. I feel like there is now authority to support the issues I have raised with members at the Bar who made me feel like I was being unnecessarily difficult. I found the course excellently addressed issues of racism (including ethnocentrism and xenophobia) and intersectionality without attempting to placate those with power at the Bar who sometimes, unintentionally or otherwise, display these harmful behaviours."
